It’s true. You can load your videos on YouTube, share the links, and allow anyone to view, share, and comment on your business portfolio and training videos, family memories, and more.

You can use Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms to stream live video, create content, and share the videos you want clients, followers, friends, and family to see.

Excellent. Free fits every budget perfectly.

BUT – there’s always a “but” with “free,” an asterisk at the end of the offer, and fine print (usually in legalese) in the user agreement.

Let me share a couple of client stories to illustrate the potential glitches in these free services.

Client number one came to me from an educational institution.

His team is responsible for maintaining all the training videos, student performances, athletic events, and more. They also live stream many performances, competitions, and meetings.

Their go-to? YouTube, of course. Much of this was only stored on YouTube.

While preparing for a livestream, the sound team was also doing their set-ups and sound checks, and unbeknownst to the livestream team, the sound team was playing music on their personal devices, jamming while they worked, as one does.

You might sense where this is going.

During the set-up time, while the livestream team was busy working, YouTube was sending “dings” for copyright violations. They were unknowingly streaming music to which they did not possess licensing.

What happens when YouTube dings your channel three times? Yup – it’s gone. Not just the current livestream, but the entire channel. All the archives, the training and educational videos, recorded meetings, student productions, and athletic events. Deleted. Even their access was immediately halted. They lost access to their own content.

If this happens to you, you just lost all the content you’ve created.

Client number two is a content creator.

She’s been creating videos and streaming live for several years. Her only archive was on social media. She often goes live on Facebook to “meet with” her followers while allowing those who aren’t yet her followers to view the public content.

She even posted video – and images – on social media, often saying, “I’m posting this here for future reference.” Then she deleted them from her phone to make room for more videos.

That’s fine, BUT – again with the “but” – we know Facebook is now deleting videos after a specified period. Why? Because someone has to pay for that free storage. This client didn’t save video anywhere aside from her social media platforms.

Using social media – including YouTube and Facebook – is perfectly acceptable for your public content, content you don’t mind being data-mined, and content that you actually want to get lots of clicks, shares, views, and comments.

If you miss notifications that a video is about to “expire,” your content is gone.

For the content you really care about, though, you need secure, permanent storage.

The only place for that is FOREVER Storage. Dani’s Pixel Place and Pixel Chix Designs are absolutely using the free services of YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. We continually keep expansion to other platforms on our radar. It’s just a matter of finding the time to do it.

HOWEVER, we always find time to protect our content in FOREVER Storage.

  • When a client, colleague, friend, or family member wants particular videos, we send them links to the requested material.
  • We have streaming services attached to our account which enables them to also view the content without downloading.
  • Further, when file types change industry-wide, every single file will be automatically migrated to the new file type and streaming can continue.
  • Our content is guaranteed for generations to come.
  • AND, we purchased the space (as well as permanent streaming services), so we make no monthly payments on the space or the streaming. When our legacy plan comes into play, the recipients of our archives will also pay nothing further – ever.

We would never entrust our archives to a free or included service without this permanent archive to keep it safe in case of deletion, loss of the channels or social media pages and groups, or changes to the social media platform’s terms of service.

FOREVER Storage is smart, and Dani’s Pixel Place recommends it to all our clients (friends and family included) who want to be certain their videos – personal, professional, and archival – are protected, secure, and will remain viable for generations to come.

The competition can’t compete with FOREVER Storage. Free is never truly free.

This storage product is unique in the industry, and it comes with the FOREVER Guarantee, our own client care, and FOREVER’s highly-esteemed support services.

Whether or not you use any of FOREVER’s add-ons like streaming services and facial recognition, permanent storage without subscription costs, data-mining, and changing terms of service just makes sense, and it shows that you’re serious about protecting your archives and your content. Having files with original metadata attached means you can prove you were the original creator too, so if someone is trying to claim your content as their own, you can easily demonstrate otherwise. With FOREVER, Dani’s Pixel Place can help you to digitize outdated physical media too.

FOREVER Storage. It’s permanent. It’s smart. It’s like having insurance on your content.
